Navi Mumbai International Airport conducts successful commercial flight validation test, a step closer to becoming fully operational.
The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) successfully conducted its first commercial flight validation test on Sunday in the presence of DGCA officials.
An IndiGo A320 aircraft landed on Runway 08/26 at the NMIA.
The aircraft was welcomed with the traditional water salute by two crash fire tenders. This is a step toward becoming fully operational. “The successful completion of the validation flight is a major milestone. We are now one step closer to operationalising the airport, prioritising safety at every step. NMIA not only offers world-class aviation facilities, but it will also enable the overall development of the region,” said Mr. Arun Bansal, Chief Executive Officer, Adani Airport Holdings Ltd.
“The touchdown of a commercial aircraft validates and establishes the synchronised functioning of ‘instrument approach procedures’ at NMIA,” the company said.
“Prior to the landing of the validation flight, NMIA successfully conducted the flight calibration of the ‘instrument landing system’, and ‘precision approach path indicator’; subsequently drafting instrument approach procedures to prepare itself for the arrival of the validation flight,” it said.
