National Investigation Agency arrests tenth accused in Amravati murder case

The National Investigation Agency has arrested the tenth accused in connection with the murder of Umesh Kolhe in Amravati, Maharashtra.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday arrested the tenth accused in connection with the murder of Umesh Kolhe in Amravati, Maharashtra.
The accused has been identified as Shaikh Shakeel (28), a resident of Lalkhadi, Amravati, Maharashtra. He is arrested for his role in the conspiracy involving the murder of Umesh Pralhadrao Kolhe in Amravati. He played an active role in the conspiracy.
The case was initially registered on June 22, 2022 at Police Station City Kotwali, District Amravati, Maharashtra and re-registered by NIA on July 2, 2022.
Nine accused persons had already been arrested in the case on June 23, 2022, June 24, 2022, June 25, 2022, July 7, 2022 and August 2, 2022.
NIA officials said that further investigations in the case are in progress.
Umesh Kolhe was killed in Amravati in June for supporting suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma's comments on the Prophet Muhammad.
Kolhe, a chemist in eastern Maharashtra's Amravati, was stabbed to death in Amravati on June 21. The Amravati police had then arrested seven people in connection with the case.
