Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi emphasizes the importance of young people in shaping India's future at leadership conclave.
For a long time, there has been a condescending attitude towards the young people. However, times have changed. Today, the nation’s vision is aligned with the aspirations of the young people, said Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi at the fourth edition of Evolve, a leadership conclave organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Young Indians (Yi) in Madurai on Sunday.
Mr. Ravi said that the country had young men and women who were keen on challenging the very challenge itself and to take the country forward. Today, India is not just looking at itself but looking at the world at large and in fact more than India looking at the world, the world is looking at India for leadership, ideas, innovation and to move forward into the future, he said.
It was encouraging to see young people full of ideas. The young people had a huge role to play in taking the country forward with their vision, he said, referring to the goal of achieving ‘Viksit Bharat’ i.e. a developed India by 2047. The views of the young people were important and they have a decisive say on how the country should be shaped, he said.
He said that in the last 10 years India has seen significant economic growth because of the young people, young entrepreneurs and energy. Today, India was the leading startup ecosystem. India was marching ahead because of the energy of the youth, he said.
The Governor interacted with young entrepreneurs and also answered the queries raised by them. He told them that self discipline was important when it came to managing finance. Answering a query on the education system, he spoke on the importance of the experiential learning which connects students with the industry.
He advised the entrepreneurs to grow to their optimal potential. “If you grow, the State and the nation grows. If you grow, your family and society grows. You must grow to your full potential”, he said adding more challenges, the more you grow. Answering another quarry on equitable growth, he said that there should be human centric development and growth should be aligned with sustainable development. He said that one should believe in their ideas and quality was important.
Responding to a query on the need for mandatory military service to instill the importance of a healthy lifestyle and fitness, he said that lifestyle diseases had become common among the youth. Fitness and a healthy lifestyle should become a habit, he said. To a query on geo-political issues, he said that earlier India followed a policy of non-alignment. Now, India followed the policy of multi-alignment which served mutual interest and did not add to the tension. India was on the side of peace and had a good relationship with all, he said.
