A nun working in Mercy convent in Sri Rampura in Karnataka's Mysuru has sought protection from her colleagues, alleging that her life is in danger and that she was forcibly admitted to a psychiatric hospital for calling out sexual harassment in the convent.
Sister Elsina, who works in a convent which provides shelter to specially abled children, shared a video in this regard, talking about irregularities, sexual harassment, corruption and two murders that allegedly took place in the Mercy convent.
After raising her voice against the authority members, her colleagues Margaret, Deepa and Ann Mary allegedly threatened her.
She expressed the apprehension that her 'rivals might either forcibly admit her to hospital for mental treatment or murder her. She further added that if her body was found in such a state as to be perceived as suicide or unnatural death, it must be treated as murder.
Furthermore, she alleged after she had written a letter to the State Human Rights Commission in Bengaluru about the irregularities, three men attacked her and admitted her to a nearby St Mary mental health hospital for treatment. However, she managed to escape from the hospital with the help of her relatives and a complaint was lodged at Ashokapuram police station.
In its defence, the school authorities have given clarification and issued a letter stating that Sister Elsina is mentally unstable and has been behaving aggressively for the past few months. Elsina created a video with false allegations and had threatened the sisters to drag them to court, the statement read.
