Mysore woman arrested for killing five people of a family in Mandya

Police formed a special team and arrested Lakshmi from Mysore for murdering five people of a family in Karnataka's Mandya district on Sunday. She is alleged to be the lover of the victim’s husband.
Mandya police cracked the murder case of five people from a family in KRS village that took place on Sunday, February 6. Police formed a special team and arrested Lakshmi, a resident of Mysore, within two days. She is alleged to be the lover of the victim’s husband.
On Sunday, Lakshmi (32), her children Raj (12), Komal (7), Kunal (4) and a relative’s son Govinda (12) were murdered at her house in KRS village in Mandya district. The victim’s husband, Gangaram, is a garment businessman.
As per reports, Gangaram was not at home when the incident took place as he regularly travelled to other states for purchases.
During initial investigations, police suspected it to be a case of murder for gain as several ornaments were found missing. Upon further investigation, police established the involvement of a known person.
The special team which was formed began inquiring about Gangaram, who arrived at KRS village after learning about the deaths. During the interrogation, Gangaram confessed to having an affair with another Lakshmi, a relative of the victim Lakshmi.
After checking CCTV footage, it was discovered that Lakshmi travelled in a scooter at around 4 am on Sunday. Sources said that Lakshmi confessed to the crime during the interrogation.
A police officer said, as quoted by the New Indian Express, “When the family went to sleep, the accused hit the victim with a machete and a hammer.”
