Unmanned bamboo raft from Myanmar found on Nagapattinam coast with fishing equipment and shelter, sparking investigation.
An unmanned bamboo raft, believed to be from Myanmar, washed ashore on Wednesday near Vettaikaraniruppu in Nagapattinam coast here.
The bamboo raft, believed to be used for fishing purposes, measured approximately 40 feet in length, 15 feet in width, and 8 feet in height. Constructed with about 175 bamboo sticks, the raft included a small thatched shelter measuring 6 feet by 4 feet by 4 feet, seemingly intended for use as a rain cover.
Authorities found a makeshift cooking area, equipped with firewood and a stove made from iron sheets, on the raft.
Upon receiving information, personnel from the Vedaranyam Marine Police arrived at the location and initiated an inquiry.
