Mundka fire: Forensic team hands over DNA reports of charred bodies to Delhi Police

Three weeks after the Mundka fire incident, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) officials conducting DNA testing on the charred remains handed over the reports of victims to the Delhi Police on Tuesday.
Out of the 27 bodies, 8 were identified by the officials.
A senior FSL official said over 100 samples were received by the lab, including the ones they had collected themselves from the spot and the ones shared by police.
According to Delhi Police, DNA samples of 26 persons were collected from blood relatives.
A fire broke out at a factory in outer Delhi’s Narela on Monday night. According to the police, they received a call about the fire at 8.40 pm. Four fire tenders and police staff were rushed to the spot.
As many as 27 people were killed and 12 injured. As the flames closed in, desperate people jumped out of windows to save their lives, videos show.
Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured. He also ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
