Mumbaikars worried over possibility of another lockdown in city
India Today
A spike in coronavirus cases and restrictions in various cities of Maharashtra have got the common man from Mumbai worried over fears of another lockdown in the city.
With the Centre saying that the Covid-19 surge cannot be taken lightly and the state of Maharashtra indicating strong restrictions in the days ahead, a scenario of lockdown has got the common man worried. Amruta Kadam (name changed) from Chembur, who runs a beauty parlour, says that she cannot afford a lockdown like 2020. “I paid rent for eight months for this place even though it was closed. My staff is dependent on the parlour. I paid them half salary throughout even as there were no earrings. There is no one ready to help us with capital. Now slowly we are trying to get back to our feet as the wedding season has given us some work. But if there is another lockdown like last year I will have to shut down this place. I myself don’t know what will I be doing if that happens.” Rohit Kumar, who hails from UP and works as a private driver in Mumbai, says he’s been tracking news bulletins to find out whether there will be a full lockdown or partial lockdown. “There will be a huge problem if a lockdown is imposed again. My family of five members is dependent on me. I send them fifteen thousand every month. They look forward to receiving the money for monthly expenses. They have already asked me number of times on the current situation here. So yes I am worried.”More Related News
