Mumbai received moderate rainfall in a 12-hour period ending at 8pm on Friday, with the intensity of the showers being greater in the suburbs than the island city, civic officials said.
The island city, eastern suburbs and western suburbs recorded average rainfall of 37.26 mm, 62.50 mm and 69.42 mm, respectively, between 8 am to 8 pm, an official said.
According to BMC officials, Elphinstone Road in the island city led with 56 millimetres of rainfall. In the eastern suburbs Ghatkopar received 82 mm, while the figure was 101 mm for Marol in the western suburbs.
As per the civic body, 49 incidents of tree or branch fall were reported during this period, including 29 in the western suburbs, while there were five incidents of short circuit and six of house or partial house collapse.
There was no report of any casualty from these incidents, the BMC informed.
Moderate to heavy rains in the earlier part of the day led to traffic disruptions in some parts due to waterlogging though train services remained largely unaffected.
The rain also boosted lake levels, officials had said earlier.
