Mumbai: No waterlogging at Hindmata this monsoon, claims BMC
India Today
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has claimed that this monsoon, the low-lying area Hindmata junction in Dadar East, will not have any waterlogging issues like every year.
Hindmata, the low-lying area between Dadar TT and Parel is one of the chronic waterlogging spots that witnesses flood-like situation every year during monsoon. However, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has claimed that this monsoon the area will not witness such waterlogging. These large underground holding tanks will help us hold monsoon water for atleast 3 hours, considerably reducing water logging considerably during hours of high tide & heavy rainfall. This would be replicated across Mumbai’s specific areas that are water logged during heavy rains pic.twitter.com/tcSzpBcOTv Low-lying areas in Mumbai generally get waterlogged due to heavy rain. But if during a heavy downpour there is a high tide in the Arabian Sea, the city gets inundated in two- or three-ft deep rainwater. To mitigate flooding triggered by heavy rainfall, the BMC is constructing underground rainwater storage tanks at the junction.More Related News
