
Mumbai man sentenced to six months in jail for molesting woman on bus in 2015

A magistrate's court in Mumbai handed a man six months' rigorous imprisonment for repeatedly touching a woman's shoulder with his private parts on a running BEST bus in 2015.
A 21-year-old woman, who was travelling on a BEST bus with her father, handed over one of the passengers to the police for reportedly molesting her. The woman said that the accused was standing next to her on the bus while she was seated and was constantly touching her shoulder with his private parts. This incident happened in Worli in 2015.
The victim said that the accused was standing in close proximity and kept getting closer towards her. Upon being confronted, the accused gave her a smile and replied that he was 'adjusting his belt'. A report published in the Times of India (TOI) revealed that the woman apprised her father of the incident and also told the driver and conductor to get down from the bus and dragged the accused to the Dadar police station. The accused has been identified as Vinayak Vaiti (27), a resident of Mahim.
