Mumbai Indians still a champion side: Suryakumar Yadav's cheeky response to journalist
India Today
Mumbai Indians star Suryakumar Yadav played down concerns over his team's form in the ongoing IPL 2022 and promised a comeback in the upcoming games.
Star batter Suryakumar Yadav came up with a cheeky response to a scribe's question over the Mumbai Indians' status as one of the champion sides. Surya said that Mumbai Indians are a champion side while assuring that the Rohit Sharma-led side would definitely make a comeback.
Surya further pointed out the positives for the MI side, saying that young players like Dewald Brevis and N Tilak Verma have done well in the limited opportunities given to them by the management in IPL 2022.
Mumbai, the most successful team in IPL history, are winless in IPL 2022, having lost each of the five matches they’ve played so far. Mumbai are languishing at the bottom of the IPL 2022 points table after suffering a 12-run defeat at the hands of Punjab Kings.
Suryakumar's form has been one of the very few bright spots for the 5-time Champions. Despite missing a couple of games, Suryakumar is the second-highest run-getter for MI in IPL 2022, having scored 168 runs at an average of 81.5 and a strike-rate of 158.25. The five-time champions have little room for error going forward if they want to make the playoffs.

"I think we are playing some good cricket. There is a question of panicking for a team like MI. We have been following good processes in the past few years, we are just doing it. If we keep working hard, we will get our first win," Suryakumar Yadav told reporters in a Mumbai Indians virtual presser.
"There have been a lot of positive things. You can see Dewald, you can see Tilak, they have done well. In the coming years, we will see champion players come out of the side. Everyone around me is motivated. I don't have to push anyone. Playing for MI is motivation enough.
