Former NCB Mumbai zone chief Sameer Wankhede was questioned for the third time by the vigilance team of the bureau.
Former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai zone chief Sameer Wankhede was questioned by the vigilance team of the bureau in Delhi on Sunday.
The NCB vigilance team is probing the allegations against the NCB team in connection with the Mumbai cruise drug bust case involving Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan.
This is the third time Sameer Wankhede has been questioned by the NCB. The first investigating officer of the drug bust case, VV Singh, was questioned by the vigilance team for 10 hours on Saturday, February 12.
In October 2021, the NCB ordered a vigilance probe against Sameer Wankhede after a witness in the cruise drug bust case, Prabhakar Sail, accused him of asking for Rs 25 crore bribe through another witness in order to release Aryan Khan.
Aryan Khan was arrested after the NCB, led by Sameer Wankhede, conducted a raid on the Cordelia Cruises' Empress ship off the coast of Mumbai on October 2, 2021. A rave party was allegedly taking place on the ship and Aryan Khan was on board. NCB sleuths said they seized 13 grams of cocaine, 5 grams of MD, 21 grams of charas, 22 pills of MDMA (ecstasy) and Rs 1.33 lakh in cash during the raid. However, no drugs were found on Aryan Khan.
Last month, Sameer Wankhede was sent back from NCB to the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, his parent cadre.
