Mumbai death figure for April is 112% more than 4-year average

The data revealed has caused concern about the number of deaths in April due to Covid-19.

An RTI query has revealed that 112% more deaths in April were reported as compared to the four-year average for the same month. This data is of deaths due to all causes but has raised concerns about the number of real Covid-19 deaths. According to the reply given by civic authorities, 14,484 deaths were reported in Mumbai in April this year. The Covid deaths for the month of April for Mumbai were 1,479. Activist Sharad Yadav who filed the RTI said there should be investigations on the increased number of deaths.
