The Girgaon Magistrate Court in Mumbai has sentenced a city-based businessman to six months in prison for verbally abusing a woman doctor.
As per the complainant doctor, the incident occurred twice. On November 14, 2017, the mother of the accused was admitted at the Parsi General Hospital. The doctor told the accused that his mother was stable but still the accused kept creating a ruckus and abused the doctor.
The complainant said the accused called her words like “you are useless, you are scoundrel” and "bloody b**ch". On that day, the doctor only reported the matter.

However, the mother of the accused was again admitted to the hospital on November 23 and the accused behaved in the same manner. The doctor then went ahead and registered an FIR at Gaondevi Police Station against the man.
Few other doctors of the hospital, who were witnesses in the case, also corroborated the complainant's version to the court.
The accused raised the defense that the doctors had deposed in the case as they are all "interested witnesses" so their evidence is not trustworthy. However, Magistrate Nadeem Patel held that just because the witnesses are known to each other, it does not mean that they are interested witnesses.
