The family of a 15-year-old girl alleged that she was raped and murdered after she was found dead in Mumbai. Police said that the hospital report does not mention any signs of abuse or confirm rape or murder.
Days after a 15-year-old girl was found dead in Mumbai, police have ruled out signs of sexual abuse, assault and murder. On March 30, a girl who worked as a house help in the Classic Tower in Agripada's Mumbai Central area was found dead.
The family members of the victim alleged that the man who had employed the girl had sexually assaulted and murdered her. The accused, identified as Saif Mojawala, had employed the victim at his house on the fifteenth floor.
On the day of the incident, the girl's body was found in the garden area of the third floor of the building. The watchman alerted the deceased's relatives, who informed the police and a case of accidental death was filed.
However, a police official now confirmed that the postmortem report by Nair hospital does not mention any signs of abuse, assault or confirm rape and murder.
"The report clearly mentions that the victim died due to causes arising out of a fall. It is clear that it was suicide. She had been employed at that house for four months and her mother also worked there. The family is refusing to collect the body and it is still at the hospital. Reports of an improper investigation are false and we will take appropriate action," said the official.
Mojawala is yet to be arrested but the Agripada police station have booked him under relevant sections of the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act for employing a minor.
