Members of the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) held a meeting with Manish Sisodia, Deputy CM of Delhi, to request him to reopen cinema halls in Delhi.
The Delhi government decided to shut down the cinema halls on December 28 due to the rise in Covid-19 cases. This led to the makers of Jersey postponing the release of the film. However, SS Rajamouli has announced that the release date of his much-anticipated film, RRR, won't change. If cinema halls continue to stay closed, this will affect the multiplexes, which were trying to regain their lost business after multiple Covid-induced lockdowns. Today, December 30, members of the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) held a meeting with Manish Sisodia, Deputy CM of Delhi, seeking him to reopen cinema halls in Delhi.
The MAI members highlighted the adverse economic situation to which the industry will be subjected due to the Covid-induced shutdowns. In the meeting, the delegation requested Sisodia's intervention inthe reopening of Delhi cinemas. They also spoke about the losses they had to incur due to multiple shutdowns since March 2020.
