The home ministry has increased the security cover of industrialist Mukesh Ambani, as per sources. The security cover was ramped up to ‘Z +’ category based on the intelligence agency’s threat perception report, sources added.
Mukesh Ambani , Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, was earlier accorded ‘Z category’ security. Following the bomb scare outside billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s residence, Antilia, last year, the MHA was discussing strengthening the security of industrialists.
In India, security cover is offered to recognised personalities whose lives are at jeopardy owing to their work or popularity. Different sorts of security are supplied depending on the information provided by the intelligence agency in order to safeguard them from such anti-social forces.
