Residents of Bhatauli village 'auctioned' the post of Sarpanch at Rs 44 lakh to avoid wastage of funds.
Ridiculing the Panchyat elections in Madhya Pradesh, residents of Bhatauli village, about 30 km from the Ashok Nagar district headquarters, on Tuesday ‘auctioned’ the post of the Sarpanch and pledged to elect the highest bidder when the election takes place.
The ‘bidding’ started at Rs 21 lakh. The venue was the village temple and four bidders were in the fray.
