Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has lost the confidence of another prominent Liberal MP.
Parliamentary Secretary for Housing, Infrastructure and Communities and London North Centre MP Peter Fragiskatos told CTV News, “I'm being more direct in my call today for the Prime Minister to resign.”
Following the resignation of Chrystia Freeland last month, Fragiskatos told CTV National News he was giving the Prime Minister time over the holidays to reflect on the fact that no individual is bigger than the country or the Liberal Party of Canada.
According to Fragiskatos, his decision to now take a public position came after many conversations with constituents, community members, and members of the LPC.
“We need a new leader to offer a renewed vision for our party and to go up against Poilievre,” he explained.
“I think (Poilievre) represents a tremendous threat to the social and economic fabric of the country.”
Those comments are the latest in a tumultuous few weeks for Trudeau including more than a dozen Liberal MPs publicly asking the Prime Minister to step aside and the Ontario and Atlantic caucuses decided to ask the same.
