MP govt takes action against 2 cops after outrage over men stripped semi-naked in police station

The MP government suspended two cops on Thursday after a photo of eight men stripped down to their underwear in the Kotwali police station went viral on social media.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday took strict action against the alleged mishandling of a journalist and seven others by the local police in the Sidhi district.
A photo of a group of men standing half-naked with folded hands in a police station went viral on social media. One of the men included in the photo was a journalist.
According to reports, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan sought clarifications from the Bhopal Police Headquarters and instructed them to take strict action against the alleged behaviour of the accused police personnel.
The police station in-charge and one Sub-Inspector (SI) responsible for the misbehavior of journalists have been suspended and orders have been given to summon them.
Moreover, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sidhi Mukesh Kumar Srivastava summoned the police station in-charge, Kotwali Manoj Soni and Amilia police station in-charge Abhishek Singh.
The journalist, Kanishk Tiwari ,had shared a video on Facebook alleging that he was also assaulted and threatened.
Regarding the incident and the viral photo of the police station, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anjuta Patel had said that taking cognizance of the matter, under the direction of SP Sidhi, DSP Head Quarter Gayatri Tiwari has been ordered to investigate.
