Senior Trinamool Congress leader Partha Chatterjee was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on Saturday, July 23, in connection with its probe into the alleged school jobs scam in West Bengal. As the BJP targeted the Trinamool Congress over the Bengal minister’s arrest, the ruling party accused the Opposition of indulging in “cheap politics”.
The arrest of Partha Chatterjee followed after Rs 21 crore in cash was recovered from the Kolkata home of Arpita Mukherjee, close aide of the Bengal minister. Arpita Mukherjee was also arrested by the agency on Saturday. Some foreign currencies and jewellery were also seized from her high-end apartment in the city's Joka area, as per ED officials.

1) On Friday, the ED carried out simultaneous raids at the houses of around a dozen people, including Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee and Paresh Adhikary, in connection with its investigation into the recruitment scam. Partha Chatterjee was arrested by the ED on Saturday.
