India Today
A red Banarasi saree comes with a timeless charm and Bollywood brides, including Mouni Roy and Anushka Sharma, prove that it is a must-have for your wedding wardrobe.
Beaming with the newly-wed glow and dressed in a traditional red saree, Mouni Roy returned to Mumbai with her husband Suraj Nambiar after wrapping up wedding revelries in Goa. The couple walked hand-in-hand and happily posed for the shutterbugs.
However, it is Mouni’s quintessential red Banarasi saree that had us hooked at first glance. The actress embraced the colour of love for her first public appearance with her beau Suraj post their wedding. Making it further remarkable, she opted for a traditional Banarasi weave with intricate golden thread work - an indispensable number found in several other Bollywood brides’ wardrobes as well. From Deepika Padukone to Anushka Sharma and Dia Mirza, several Bollywood divas have embraced the timeless charm of a red Banarasi saree and proved that it is a wedding-trousseau essential!
MOUNI ROY
Mouni Roy, the newest bride, teamed the Banarasi saree with a simple red sleeveless blouse. For the accessories, she just flaunted a pair of ornate golden jhumkas. A heavy kohl-ed eye makeup, nude lips and red sindoor completed her look.
DEEPIKA PADUKONE
Deepika Padukone too wore a red and gold Banarasi saree with elaborate work on the special occasion of her wedding anniversary. The actress visited the Tirupati Temple with Ranveer Singh and family members in the traditional saree. She styled the Sabyasachi saree with gobs of jewels, a hair bun and nude-hued makeup.
