Most of Alberta under extreme cold warnings

It's a sea of red that has nothing to do with the Calgary Flames.
Almost all of Alberta was under an extreme cold warning early Tuesday morning, with a wind chill in parts that could make it feel close to –40.
"Extreme cold puts everyone at risk," Environment Canada wrote just before 7:30 a.m. MT.
"Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill. Keep emergency supplies in your vehicle such as extra blankets and jumper cables. If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside."
The agency said it could get even colder in some northern communities with wind chill values dipping to –50.

Garden Hill Anisininew Nation leaders are calling on all levels of government to help secure hotel rooms for hundreds of wildfire evacuees as a congregate shelter in Winnipeg became crowded on Saturday and northern Manitoba wildfires threatened their homes and the health of those still waiting to get out.
