
More than 60 people killed in fire at Iraqi hospital treating Covid-19 patients

At least 64 people were killed and at least 50 others injured in a hospital fire in the Iraqi city of Nasiriya believed to have been caused by the explosion of an oxygen tank.
Some 50 people were also injured in the Monday night blaze that is believed to have started after oxygen tanks exploded in an intensive care unit treating Covid-19 patients. The fire has since been extinguished. The Al-Hussein Hospital was set up at the start of the pandemic to treat coronavirus patients and it has quarantine stations on site. Nasiriya, in Dhi Qar province, is about 360 kilometers (225 miles) southeast of Iraq's capital, Baghdad.
