More genomic sequencing key to fighting Zika virus more effectively: Experts

With Zika virus cases -- 23 so far -- rising in Kerala, experts have said there is a need now to look beyond the role of Aedes mosquitoes in the spread of this infection. "Apart from the prevalence and seasonal increase in vectors - Aedes mosquitoes - Zika is shown to be present in a wide variety of animal reservoirs," Professor Vinod Scaria, Principal Scientist, Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), told India Today.
