Advocate Satish Uke, who had filed a plea against former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and his brother Pradeep Uke were remanded to ED custody for six days, in a land grab and money laundering case.
A Mumbai court has sent Advocate Satish Uke and his brother Pradeep to Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody till April 6. Advocate Uke, who had filed a plea against former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, was arrested on Friday in a land grab and money laundering case.
The central agency arrested Uke and his brother after conducting their homes in Nagpur. Mobile phones, laptops and other gadgets were seized by the ED. The two were brought to Mumbai court where the agency sought 14 days of custody.
The agency had shown that there were two FIRs registered against Uke for land grabbing using forged documents and the agency claimed that the money thus obtained by such was layered and laundered by the two Uke brothers.
One FIR was registered on January 23, 2022 by a person named Mohammad Jaffht whose uncle was the owner of the land comprising of five acres at Mouza Bokhara, Nagpur. The allegation against Uke was of allegedly surping the land by creating fake documents.
The second FIR was registered earlier on July 31, 2018 by a person named Shobharani Nalode. She alleged that Uke and others had allegedly usurped her society's 1.5-acre land situated at Mouza Babulkheda, Nagpur.
Advocate Ravi Jadhav appearing for Pradeep Uke and Satish Uke argued that since the lawyer was fighting various cases against various ministers, this case and arrest was done due to political vendetta and is nothing but political revenge.
Uke said that he was facing the case only because he had initiated cases against political big wigs like Nitin Gadkari and Devendra Fadnavis. Uke also said that he had approached the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court seeking a police probe into the death of Judge BH Loya, who was presiding over the Sohrabuddin Shaikh fake encounter case.
