The Koodankulam police have launched a search for unidentified persons who allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail at a tea shop owner’s house in Soundaralingapuram in the early hours of Friday (February 21, 2025).
The police said Mani, 54, of Soundaralingapuram, ran a tea shop at Aavaraikulam under the Pazhavoor police station limits on the Kanniyakumari-Tirunelveli four-lane national highway. When a person named Ramakrishnan of the same area visited the tea shop recently, he got into a heated argument with Mr. Mani and allegedly assaulted him. The Pazhavoor police, based on a complaint from Mr. Mani, had registered a case in this regard.
Even as the case was under investigation, Mr. Mani’s son Vijayan reportedly assaulted Mr. Ramakrishnan.
Following this, unidentified persons threw Molotov cocktail at the house of Mr. Mani at around 2 a.m. on Friday. Though no one was injured in the incident and the building did not suffer much damage, the attack triggered panic in the locality.
Based on information from Mr. Mani, the Koodankulam police and forensic experts have camped at the spot.
