Mohammed Siraj is among the best fast bowlers in the world and is a great asset for the Indian team, former batsman VVS Laxman has said. Siraj did not play in the first Test against New Zealand in Kanpur but was included in the squad in place of Ishant Sharma in the second.
He ended up taking three wickets in a fiery opening spell during New Zealand's first innings at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. Siraj dismissed New Zealand captain Tom Latham and his opening partner Will Young before getting the wicket of senior batsman Ross Taylor. It triggered a collapse that ended with New Zealand being all out for just 62 runs, which is the lowest total any team has ever managed against India in Test cricket.
