Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot was greeted with chants hailing PM Modi at Ramdevra temple in Jaisalmer.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's visit to Jaisalmer's Ramdevra temple could go down in history as an embarrassment to the veteran Congress politician. In visuals accessed by India Today, CM Gehlot was being greeted with chants hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On Friday, Ashok Gehlot offered his prayers at the Ramdevra temple while the crowd either failed to recognise the minister or took an apparent jibe at him. With chants of Modi Modi on the temple premises, Gehlot concluded his visit with a grinning face and minimal reaction.
Ashok Gehlot, seemingly undisturbed by the chants, continued waiving at the crowd at the temple as they cheered PM Modi.
The video of the crowd echoing 'Modi-Modi', during Gehlot's visit to Ramdevra temple, has taken the internet by storm and the footage has gone viral.
CM Gehlot's welcome with 'Modi-Modi', instead of his name or his party's, came after Rajasthan CM said that more than half of criminal cases against women in the state were fabricated or false.
"Who commits rape incidents? Most of the incidents are committed by relatives or acquaintances of that girl. About 56 per cent of the criminal cases registered against women are false cases. Such people should not be abandoned. Such cases tarnish the image of the state in the country," the Rajasthan CM said.
