Modi critic Dhiru Gajera set to return to BJP ahead of Gujarat assembly polls

Former Gujarat MLA Dhiru Gajera, who had jumped ship from the BJP to the Congress 14 years ago, will rejoin the saffron party on July 24 at the party’s Surat headquarters.

Former Gujarat MLA Dhiru Gajera, who had jumped ship from the BJP to the Congress 14 years ago, will rejoin the saffron party in the presence of state unit chief CR Patil on July 24 at the party’s Surat headquarters. Gajera had rebelled against then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and left the party to join Congress in 2007. Some 30 Patidars (Patels), including Dhiru Gajera, had severed ties with the BJP and contested assembly elections as Congress candidates.
