The body of a 30-year-old model was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside a hotel room at Versova in Mumbai's suburban Andheri area on Wednesday. A suicide note saying that she was 'unhappy' and 'needed peace' was also recovered from the spot, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Akanksha Mohan, a resident of Yamuna Nagar Society in Lokhandwala area.
According to the police, the woman had checked into the hotel around 8 pm on Wednesday and ordered dinner. Following this, she locked her room's door from inside. It was the next day, when the waiter kept ringing the door bell, which remained unanswered.
The matter was then informed to the hotel manager, who further called the police. Subsequently, a police team rushed to the hotel and broke the door open to find the model's body hanging from the ceiling fan of the room.
The suicide note purportedly written by Akansha read, 'I am sorry. No one is responsible for this. I am not happy. I just need peace', the official said.
After recovering a suicide note from the spot and a post-mortem report, police have registered a case of accidental death.
