TRIBUNE NEWS NETWORKDOHAThe Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) and Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) have signed an agreement to develop a training program, âAPMG Certified Public-Private Partnerships Programâ, with the help of GU-Q. The agreement was signed by Mr. Nasser Al-Muhannadi, Director of Finance and Administrative Affairs at the Ministry, and Dr. Clyde Wilcox, Dean of QF partner Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q).The signing of the agreement is part of the Ministryâs commitment to strengthen collaboration among government agencies and to hone specialistsâ expertise in Public-Private Partnership projects.As part of the agreement, Georgetown University agreed to design and deliver a structured certification public-private partnership (PPP) program accredited by APM Group Limited (APMG), a global accreditation and examination institute, and with the support of GU-Q.âWe are proud to leverage Georgetown Universityâs significant resources and expertise in support of the Qatar National Vision 2030, and to promote public-private collaboration that drives Qatarâs development through successful PPP implementation,â said Dr. Wilcox.The programme includes specialised virtual workshops that simulate the Ministryâs and participating partiesâ requirements in accordance with Qatari law and the countryâs regulatory and executive guidelines. The workshops are designed to sharpen participantsâ skills, improve their abilities, and prepare them to manage the selection, analysis, implementation, and monitoring of PPP projects.The PPP capacity-building workshops are attended by a number of MOCI officials and employees, as well as a diverse cohort from various government entities.Participants who successfully complete the programme will receive the internationally recognised APMG PPP Professional Certification as well as a Georgetown University certificate of completion.The World Bank Group (WBG), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), among others, have all endorsed the APMG PPP Certification Program with the goal of improving PPP performance globally.
