Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi warns youth against excessive mobile phone use, emphasizes importance of focus and independence.
Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi on Wednesday urged the youth not to waste time on mobile phones as it was among distractions that made people dull.
He claimed that spending too much time on mobile phones and other screens would damage one’s cognitive and thinking power. “It has been scientifically established. Keep away. These are distractions you must overcome,” Mr. Ravi said. He was addressing the audience at the 128th birth anniversary celebration of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose organised by Aram IAS Academy in Chennai.
During his speech, Mr. Ravi said late freedom fighter Netaji’s sole mission was to get independence for the country and he was deeply inspired by Swami Vivekananda.
The Governor said thousands and thousands of people from Tamil land gave their lives — the ultimate sacrifice — and about 6,000 from this State joined the late ‘Netaji’ to fight the British.

“Earth Day celebrations have already started in Bengaluru, with campaigns at various colleges such as St. Josephs, and Christ University where life-size elephants made from the invasive species, Lantana Camera, have been travelling to spread the message of conservation and coexistence, along with expert talks from WWF India and Ravi Chellam of Metastring Foundation,” said the release.
