MME to develop national strategy for green growth: Minister

Doha: Minister of Municipality and Environment H E  Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie affirmed that Qatar, under the wise leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has attached great importance to the environment and sustainable development.

The Minister said that preparations are being made to study green growth opportunities in preparation for the development of a national strategy for green growth for the State of Qatar, taking into account sustainable development, in cooperation with the Global Green Growth Institute via its office in Doha.  In his speech on the occasion of the World Environment Day, which falls on June 5 every year, the Minister expressed Qatar’s pleasure to participate in the celebration of the 2021 World Environment Day under the theme ‘Ecosystem Restoration’, which comes within the context of the urgent need to take ambitious measures to develop a clear framework for preserving ecosystems and environmental diversity in the world in a way that contributes to achieving a sustainable environment for future generations.
