Leaving garbage outside the designated container for waste disposal can lead to a fine of QR10, 000, according to the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME).
In a series of tweets to mark World Cleanup Day 2021, the ministry reminded public that littering and dumping of waste in any sort of public space such as streets, passageways, parks, gardens, beaches or vacant land could lead to fines and legal action.
Throwing or leaving food waste in parks, beaches, public places or on vacant land can lead to a fine of QR10, 000, while throwing the remnants of trees or gardens in roads or public places can also lead to a fine of QR10, 000.
