MME intensifies cleaning operations ahead of Ramadan
The Peninsula
Doha: The General Cleanliness Department of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has announced its preparations of waste removal and cleaning across the country by increasing sanitation workers, garbage trucks and garbage containers ahead of Ramadan.
A significant increase in waste is recorded during Ramadan, including organic and solid waste, mainly due to many citizens and residents’ renewal of home furniture. About 1,482 workers, 659 drivers, 1,112 garbage trucks, and 158 monitors are participating in these efforts. Also, the MME has distributed 75,615 garbage containers across the country. The work plan includes replacing small-sized garbage containers with larger ones to match the amount of waste in densely populated areas, conducting cleaning campaigns around mosques, and increasing the number of cleaners in the main streets to collect waste.More Related News
