MME buys 9,801 sheep from Qatari farms

As part of the national initiative to encourage local sheep production, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented by the Livestock Department, in co-operation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Widam Food Company, bought 9,801 sheep from Qatari farms. The sheep were from the 30,000 registered Al-Suri, Al-Arab, Al-Harii and Al-Najdi breeds. The joint national initiative is carried out under the supervision of a committee formed to ensure acceptable health and physical conditions for local sheep and high-quality meat. Local sheep are sold at the butcheries of Widam Food Company with two allocated to each Qatari citizen.
