MK Stalin on Saturday inaugurated the new DMK office in New Delhi. The move is seen as an attempt by DMK to establish a presence in the national politics.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin inaugurated the new party office for Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Delhi. This comes at a time when DMK has pitched for a united front of all opposition parties to fight BJP at the Centre.
The new DMK office in Delhi, built on 1,008 square meters of land, was inaugurated by MK Stalin in the presence of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and DMK leaders. The office will be called, 'Anna-Kalaignar Arivalayam', and is located at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg in New Delhi.
Stalin went on a three-day special trip to Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and others to speak about the requirements of the state and to also inaugurate the DMK office.
General Secretary of CPI(M) Sitharaman Yechury and UP Opposition leader Akhilesh Yadav were also present during the event. Sonia Gandhi inaugurated the Perasriyar Library inside the Anna-Kalaignar Arivalayam.
The move is seen as an attempt by DMK to assert itself in national politics. DMK, with 23 MPs in the Lok Sabha, is currently the third-largest party in the Lower House.
A momentous occasion for Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, the party that stands by the ideals of Social Justice, Equality and State Autonomy, for having inaugurated our office in New Delhi. I would like to thank everyone for being part of this historic and joyous moment. (1/n) pic.twitter.com/M98FtMFvGu
