A 20-year-old girl from Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch, who went missing in January last year, was traced in Rajasthan. The girl staged her own kidnapping to run away from her home and got married later.
More than a year since a 20-year-old girl allegedly went missing from her home under the Manasa police station in Neemuch district of Madhya Pradesh, police have made a shocking revelation in the case. Neemuch police said that the entire kidnapping of the girl was staged and she has been traced to Pratapgarh in Rajasthan. The girl, identified as Neha Joshi, is now married to another man and the couple have a two-month-old child.
After the girl went missing on January 23, 2021, her father, Rakesh Joshi, sat on a hunger strike outside the district collector’s office and demanded action in the abduction case of his daughter. Joshi and his family maintained that he and his family wanted closure and sought to know if their daughter was alive or dead. The girl's father was allegedly forcefully hospitalised by the district administration on March 31.
On the basis of the call record details of Neha, the police had booked four persons for kidnapping under sections 365 and 366 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sent three accused to jail. The three accused, identified as Sharukh, Sandeep Mali and Ravindra Nahat are still lodged in the Neemuch jail. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was also formed to trace the location of the girl.
Police said that the arrested accused would now be presented in court and their release would be sought and a case would be registered against her father.
Neemuch SP Suraj Verma said, "On Sunday, Neha Joshi was brought back to Neemuch and was united with her father. She told the SIT that she is happily married and wants to stay with her family in Rajasthan. Neha also told the SIT that she had fled her home on her own will as her father was very strict."
