The viral video of Lucy Maino’s Tik Tok dance stripped her off the prestigious Miss Papua New Guinea title, with critics branding it as inappropriate.
Lucy Maino, who was crowned Miss Papua New Guinea in 2019, has been stripped of her prestigious title after she shared a video of herself twerking, on her TikTok account. She was trolled online for her video as netizens criticised her as "inappropriate". They said it was not fitting for a “role model” to share such videos. According to The Guardian, Maino, 25, had to face intense online harassment after sharing the video. Despite being posted on TikTok, the video was downloaded and shared on various social media platforms, including YouTube. As a result, it received a lot of negative attention and thousands of people censured Maino. Following the backlash on social media, the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant PNG (MPIP PNG) committee, this week, “released” Maino from her duties of representing the country as a cultural ambassador and an advocate for women.More Related News
