The victim, Narasaiah, was a former Sarpanch who went to the sub-registrar's office to sell his property. The two accused shot his driver in the thigh and fled the scene with Rs 43.50 lakh in cash.
Two men riding a motorcycle allegedly opened fire at a car near the sub-registrar's office in Telangana’s Siddipet district on Monday afternoon. The miscreants fled with Rs 43.50 lakh cash.
The victim was ex-Sarpanch Narasaiah, who had gone to the sub-registrar's office to sell his property. The buyer delivered the cash after completing property paperwork work at a local document writer near the SRO office.
The Times of India reported that Narasaiah gave the bag of cash to his car driver for safe keeping. Two individuals arrived on a bike and banged their fists on the car’s windows.
Suspecting they were thieves, the car driver attempted to flee the scene.
Narasiah was quoted as saying to The Times of India, “Suspecting that they could be robbers, my car driver tried to leave the place. But they opened fire on my car driver and the bullet hit his thigh. Later, one of the accused opened the car door and took the cash bag before they fled the place."
Narasaiah was inside the sub-office registrar when the encounter between his driver and the miscreants occurred. While the accused’s weapon ended up in the victim’s car, there was no registration number on the bike used by them.
An attempt to murder and Arms Act case has been registered by the police, and an investigation is underway.
