A police constable sustained injuries after four men attacked the cop during Santhankoodu festival in Tamil Nadu's Ramanathapuram.
A police official sustained injuries after being attacked by miscreants during an event in Tamil Nadu's Ramanathapuram. Thousands had gathered for the Santhanakoodu festival in Erwadi, which was being held after a gap of two years, when the incident took place.
Several police officials were on duty to maintain law and order on June 23 and 24. During the event, four men who were in an inebriated condition caused ruckus and attacked constable Ramesh.
The police official asked the men to step aside during the time of the Santhankoodu procession. They protested and went on to attack Ramesh, who sustained head injuries.

As the video of the attack went viral, Tamil Nadu Police registered a case against four men and arrested a 25-year-old man identified as Mani.
Ramesh has been admitted to Ramanathapuram hospital and the cops are on the lookout for the other three suspects. Further investigation is underway.
Santhanakoodu Festival is a monthlong festival held in Ervadi dargah to commemorate the anniversary of Sulthan Syed Ibrahim Shaheed Badhusha whose grave is in Ervadi. The festival is organised as a National Integrity festival by the local Dargah Huqdhar Management Committee.
