The Prayagraj Police said that legal action of criminal nature will be taken against children if found guilty of pelting stones at cops.
Legal action of criminal nature will be taken against children if found guilty of pelting stones at cops during the violent protests in Prayagraj on June 10, said the police. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Kumar said, “Minors will be considered and legal action will be taken against children and will be of a criminal nature”.
However, the SSP also added that no innocent minor would be arrested.
The UP Police claimed that the conspirators of Prayagraj violence used minors to pelt stones at police and authorities during the violent protests in the city on June 10.

The police added that the minors were misled into pelting stones at cops. However, the police have also said that only the presence of minors at the spot of violence won't be the basis of making them accused.
Earlier, SSP Ajay Kumar had said, “Anti-social elements used minor kids to hurl stones at police and administration. Case registered under 29 crucial sections. Action will be taken under the Gangster Act and NSA.”
Meanwhile, the Prayagraj Police appealed to locals to not post or forward any provocative comments on social media. “Anyone who tries to post objectionable content on social media or releases provocative video and conspires to vitiate the atmosphere will not be spared,” said the police.
