Doha, Qatar: The Real Estate Brokerage Department at the Ministry of Justice has imposed a three-month suspension on the operations of a real estate company, effective from today, for contravening the provisions of Law No.22 of 2017, regulating real estate brokerage activities.
In a statement, the department explained that the decision came after it had confirmed this violation, pursuant to article No. 14 of the law regulating the real estate brokerage that prohibits real estate brokers to engage in any brokerage activities, advertise in sale, purchase, lease of real estate, or conduct any transaction accordingly, unless the required documents are fulfilled.
Such a step comes as part of the inspection campaigns conducted by the audit and control section at the Real Estate Brokerage Department to control violations and conduct periodic inspection of workplaces, the statement highlighted.
Real Estate Brokerage Department stressed that writing real estate brokerage contracts is mandatory, and advertising the properties externally is prohibited, unless documents are fulfilled and submitted to the department for further verification, in addition to ensuring the credibility of external advertisement within the real estate brokerages scope of work.
Director of Real Estate Brokerage Department at the Ministry of Justice Khalid Hassan Al Mehshadi underscored the importance of brokers' adherence to conditions and regulations of licensing under which licenses are granted to real estate brokers. He affirmed that the department is committed to enforcing provisions of the brokerage law, in pursuit of regulating real estate brokerage profession, and comporting with measures that ensure promotion of this profession and safeguarding customers' rights.
