Minister inaugurates panchayat office, anganwadi centres in Salem
Minister for Tourism R. Rajendran inaugurated a panchayat office building and anganwadi centres in the district on Thursday.
The Minister opened the new panchayat office for Uplikkampatti panchayat in Kadayampatti panchayat union, an anganwadi centre in the panchayat, and another anganwadi centre at Nadupatti at a total cost of ₹50.65 lakh.
At the function, the Minister said that for the improvement of infrastructure for all departments, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin was providing various schemes. Based on the announcement made by the Chief Minister in Salem on December 11, 2021, a mini tidel park was constructed at 55,000 sq. ft. with three floors at a cost of ₹29.50 crore at Aanaigoundampatti on the Salem-Bengaluru National Highway. Through this, software engineers from Salem would be able to get jobs in their hometown.
Likewise, a multi storey manufacturing centre for the silver anklet manufacturers was being constructed with 102 shops on 1.20 acres at Ariyagoundampatti at ₹25.29 crore. Similarly, for constructing an integrated textile park, 120 acres had been selected at Jahir Ammapalayam, and the works for the park would begin soon. Through this park, 10,000 people from the Salem region would get jobs directly, and 30,000 to 40,000 people indirectly, Mr. Rajendran added.
Listing the schemes implemented in Salem district in the DMK regime, Mr. Rajendran said that a total of 2,697 anganwadi centres were functioning in the district at present, and the buildings were modernised in phase by phase. Later, he interacted with the children in the anganwadi centres and distributed sweets to them.
District Collector R. Brindha Devi, local body representatives, and officials from departments participated in the function.
