The Bengali Film industry mourned the loss of Bappi Lahiri, who passed away at 69. The legendary singer was unwell for a long time.
February 15 will forever be remembered as the day we lost an iconic and legendary singer, Bappi Lahiri. The music composer and singer was 69. He passed away in Mumbai yesterday. Celebs have taken to social media and shared their favorite memories with the legendary singer.
Bappi Lahiri was born as Alokesh Lahiri in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri. Bappi Lahiri was the pioneer of disco beats in India and composed some very popular songs in Bengali, including Chirodini Tumi Je Aamar. Bappi Lahiri made his debut in Hindi films with Nanha Shikari in 1973. However, his first Bengali film was Daadu (1972).
Many from the Bengali film industry, including Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta, have shared condolences for the actor.
Prosenjit Chatterjee called Bappi da a "gem" and wrote, "We've lost another gem... Shocked beyond words! Heartfelt condolences to Bappi da's family, friends and well-wishers (sic)."
