Militants from Myanmar fire on Assam Rifles troops in Arunachal

Militants from across the India-Myanmar border on Tuesday morning fired on a team of Assam Rifles in the Tirap and Changlang districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
A team of Assam Rifles was fired upon by militants from across the India-Myanmar border on Tuesday morning in the Tirap and Changlang districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Assam Rifles troops were on enhanced patrolling duty in view of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations across India.
Sources said one Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) sustained a minor injury on his hand in the incident. The Assam Rifles said that the enhanced surveillance in the border areas will continue.
The Tirap and Changlang districts of Arunachal Pradesh are in a narrow strip between Assam and Myanmar.
