Migrant crossings hit 10 year high this fiscal year amid border crisis, with four months to go
Fox News
The number of migrants who have been encountered crossing illegally at the U.S. border so far this fiscal year has hit a 10 year high, with more than four months still to go -- as the Biden administration struggles to contain a continuing crisis at the southern border.
It means that 898,949 migrants have been encountered by Border Patrol so far this fiscal year, which began in October, with four months left to go. That is the highest since FY 2006, where there were more than one million encounters at the southern border overall. It is likely that 2021 will exceed that number eventually. It is also higher than the approximately 859,000 encountered in FY 2019, and the 405,000 encountered in FY 2020. The stat was first reported by Axios before CBP officially released its May numbers.More Related News
