Amid the allegations of irregularities in transfers and postings in the revenue and land reforms department, Bihar Minister Ram Surat Rai announced to discontinue Janta Darbar.
Amid the tussle with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Bihar Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Ram Surat Rai announced that he would not hold the 'Janta Darbar' program.
The Minister from the BJP quota said from now he was not bothered about how the problem of the people would be resolved and he would only do his departmental work.
"My feelings have been hurt. I live among people. I hold Janata Darbar for 15 to 20 days a month, but it is the prerogative of the chief minister. He can review any department," said Ram Surat Rai.
There were large scale transfers and postings that took place in the revenue and land reforms department on June 30. 149 circle officers, 27 assistant settlement officers and two consolidation officers were transferred and posted by the order of the minister.
The Chief Minister's Office, meanwhile, got the information that money transactions and caste played an important role during transfers and postings. It was also alleged that the tenure of three years had been fixed for the circle officer, but before that, many circle officers were transferred.
After CM Nitish Kumar was informed about the alleged irregularities in the revenue and land reforms department, he immediately stalled the transfers and postings and directed a review of the minister's decision.
Ram Surat Rai has said that it was the chief minister's prerogative to review the decision of any department but asserted that it was the land mafia syndicate which was acting to stall the decision being taken by him in the department.
